This summer I went to Iceland for two weeks.
I was there at a work camp with thirteen other people from international countries. You can imagine, I was freakin' excited about it, because it was my first time doing something like this. Also I remember that I can't believe that I am going to fly to Iceland. The fantastic and cold Iceland. But now I am back in Berlin and I can tell you a little bit about Iceland (the nature and Reykjavik), foreign people from foreign countries, funny stories and overall my great to weeks in this young country.
The first day I met all the other people, and one I really liked, told me: "We are in a strange country with strange people." And it was absolutely right. Bu it would be two awesome weeks, you will see.
So the first day we did the Golden-Circle tour, a famous trip with amazing wonders of the nature.
First we went to the Geysirs, hot bubbling springs and holes which smelled like foul eggs... One Geysir bubbled out every ten minutes, so Kate (the Russian sympathetic girl and I waited in front of this to take a picture. The first time we missed it. The second time also. Finally at the third time we both took some pictures. It was very funny,
At the second stop there was the big waterfall "Gullfoss" and, if I am honest, it was my first big waterfall I've ever seen. So we walked this little way and suddenly there was this huge waterfall. It was stunning! We went really wet but it was amazing to see this powerful waterfall. At the third stop we were at this place where the plates of America and Europe meet together, named Pingvellir. It was really cool, but we went exhausted and cold, so we just wanted to be in our sleeping bags with a hot cup of cocoa. Yap, it is cold in Iceland... In summer around 12 degrees.
my life on the relaxed farm in iceland
The next days we just lived at the farm, did some hikes on little mountains, played a lot of card- and boardgames, watered the plants, grabbed out the weed, cooked, played some more card- and boardgames... It was such a nice time, in this house with people from Canada, Thailand, Russia, France, Italy, Finland and last but not least Germany... I found some good friends there and the atmosphere in this house was really chilled!
Also we went to Reykjavik for two times.
It is a nice little city and it was funny to walk trough the streets
and to visit the "Hallgrimskirkja" (a famous modern chirch).
There were a lot of nice shops with souvenirs, records or thrifted clothes.
Oh, and the language is really funny and cute... :)
First we went to a waterfall, where you can go behind. That was stunning, really! I ever wanted to do this... to go behind a waterfall, so you can hear, see and smell the waterfall in this real way, you know.
The second stop was another waterfall were you can go over and then hike the way beside the river of the waterfall. Over this waterfall I saw this little view with the two rainbows and flying birds and in this moment I was like thats the view of the paradise. Also we walked behind the river of the waterfall and - holy- I was so, so, so happy in this moment. It was just this untouched nature and I really imagined that there are living elves or gnomes... It was like in a fairy tale! I could talk about this beautiful place for hours and I could use a lot of adjectives while talking about this (amazing, great, beautiful, stunning...) place, I swear! :)
It was my highlight of what I saw in Iceland :).
The third stop was (yap, also...) a waterfall. This waterfall was a little bit
hidden, so it was a cool feeling to hike this way, and then suddenly, you can see a big waterfall! It was beautiful!
4 and 5
Then, at the last two stops, we all went a bit exhausted and tired, but (who would have thought it) it was also beautiful! We went to the black beach and to another place (I don't know the name but there were a lot of puffins at the cliffs and rocks...). It was crazy to walk on black sand (lava!) and also, guys, puffins are so cute!
All in all I loved these two weeks and now I am in love with Iceland! It's such an exciting, fantastic country! It was my first adventure, you know.
It was my first time going over myself's line. It was my first really courageous thing I did.
Now you absolutely have to visit Iceland (maybe with this work camp which I really enjoyed, hehe...).
And I can say, that I also have to visit this island for a second time :).
